Tom Smith, and his partner Luciana Sabatier, will perform an Argentine Tango spotlight at BLS on April 8th,  2011.

Tom has been dancing Argentine Tango for 17 years.  He has been teaching for over ten years, starting in Tulsa, then Minneapolis, and finally in Las Vegas.  Tom has training from workshops and festivals in Chicago, Miami, Vancouver, Las Vegas, Costa Rica and Buenos Aires.  His dance style is that of the traditional Argentine Tango of Buenos Aires, close embrace.  In addition to teaching, he has regularly hosted and DJ’d milongas (dance night) twice a month while in Las Vegas and previously in Minneapolis. Tango is the dance of passion, focusing on the connection and the music.  Argentine Tango has three styles, “the tango” – passion, “the vals” – romance and “the milonga” (style) – fun.  His teaching focuses on the social dance style with an introduction to some nuevo tango (new style).

 Luciana is a Brasilian native, who came to the US four years ago.  She danced professionally in Brasil for nine years, leading to her love for dance.  In the dance company, Groupo Corpo, she performed in shows around Brasil, in Italy and Germany. In the company, she danced Contemporary, Samba and other styles to typical Brasilian music.  Now she has joined Tom in the love of Argentine Tango and sharing that passion with everyone that they can.
